The Reason Toy Story is Returning to Theatres?

Below is the full text of the letter I sent back in February, which surely prompted yesterday's announcement about Toy Story 1 & 2. Thanks Mr. Lasseter!

I wrote the letter after hearing him on NPR, and realizing he really cared about the presentation of his films. (NPR erroneously claims the story first aired on 02/27, but it was actually 02/26)

Dear Mr. Lasseter,

As the father of a 3 year-old girl, I am writing to request that you bring your films back to theatres. Your movies are wonderful adventures that deserve to be seen on the big screen.

Disney used to re-release its classics every few years, so that new generations could experience them in the theatre. It’s time for Pixar and Disney to bring back this tradition.

There’s no need to add footage or change anything, or re-format them in 3D. We just need the opportunity to see them on a screen that will immerse us like only a cinema can.

Thank you for considering this, and thanks for all the great stories.

Sincerely,

Would've been nice to see First Blood on the big screen in conjunction with the new Rambo movie.

I would pay to see it on the big screen.
