Samuel Goldwyn's "Great To Be Nominated" Series

The Samuel Goldwyn Theatre is running a series of films that received the most Oscar nominations each year, but did not win Best Picture.

Unfortunately, they will not be able to show the 1977 cut of Star Wars, which was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Screenplay, & Best Director. (It won 6 awards, including Best Editing, Best Visual Effects, & Best Original Score.)

Instead, they will be showing the saccharine, adulterated mess that was released in 1997 and wasn't nominated for jack shit.

Tragically, it seems unlikely that the original version will ever be Back on the Big Screen, thanks to the once brilliant but now creatively bereft George Lucas.
