How to Deal with Audience Disruptions

Tired of disrespectful idiots disrupting your movie? Try this:

1) Before the movie starts, find a manager, and ask for a phone number where he can be reached.
2) Enter this phone number into your cell phone.
3) Explain to him that you are sick of people talking during movies, and if anyone does, you intend to call him from the auditorium.
4) If a problem occurs, quickly and discreetly call him and insist that he come into the auditorium and remove the talkers.

Admittedly, you'll be causing a minor disruption by making this call, but no more so than if you were to stand up and climb over your neighbors to make your way out of the auditorium and search for a manager.

And any decent manager should be extra vigilant after this discussion, so you shouldn't even have to use your phone.

Disruptive audiences are the #1 reason moviegoers choose to stay home, according to our informal poll. Take steps to do something about it!

You go Jonsey.

I was living in Sri Lanka when I went to see the first Lord of the Rings movie. A boy at the other end of the row just behind mine was having a phone conversation for five minutes before I couldn't take it anymore. I pulled a $5 Hong Kong coin out of my pocket and flung it at him--hitting him square in the forehead. After the movie, he and his friends tried to pick a fight with me. The security guards who were smaller than I was were of no help and luckily a tall boy named Robin came to my aid: "Three against one? Despicable!" he proclaimed, reprimanding the movie going phone addict.

Having learned that my previous actions led to questionable results, I no longer fling coinage at disruptive movie goers. I now go directly up to them, look them square in the eye, and say in a stern voice: "your actions are totally inappropriate, please be quite so that we can all enjoy the show."

Rude movie-goers are yet another reason I've put a self-ban on owning/carrying a firearm.
